A new LP from VNV Nation caught me by surprise, not only due to the five year gap between proper albums but also due to the band's ability to stay captivating and relevant. Ronan Harris' vocals have always been a huge draw despite the fact that the instrumental tracks can stand quite well on their own. I was floored by the energy he put into engaging the crowd and making it a great night for the show. Check out a couple of these videos and you'll see what I mean:
Opening act Andy Deane aka The Rain Within also was a giant ball of energy, his Synthwave sound was totally neon-soaked Miami. Andy really has the voice for this, too, definitely check out his bandcamp.
Also playing was Cologne based band HOLYGRAM, which has become a low-key obsession ever since discovering them earlier in the year. They are a fairly new group that truly has that "X" factor... playing the perfect mix of post-punk & darkwave with substance and style. https://holygram.bandcamp.com/releases
