S.H.S. Album Review - Incendiary: Cost Of Living

INCENDIARY are a band from Long Island, NY, formed around the year 2007.  The members are Brendan Garone on vox, Dan Terr on bass, Rob Nobile & Brian Audley on guitar, and Dan Lomeli on drums. They have a demo, a 7" and a full length out in addition to this new record.

Cost of Living is immediately recognizable as an improvement on their already killer sound. They play a blistering take on that classic, late-era NYHC. With this album, they turn up the metallic influences a bit, with great results. Upon a first listen one may figure that this is just another Madball ripoff, and not worth the time...  but while the sound may be nothing new, it's all about the vocal delivery and the words themselves. The band is huge in my local scene here in NJ, and I can attest to the fact that the energy Brendan exudes is not all studio. And regarding the lyrics - you'll find insightful and relevant themes about life, instead of the usual straight edge bro hymn affair. The rhythm of his vocal patterns are on point too.

How about those breakdowns? Here's my favorite:

If you're a fan of bands such as Indecision, Suburban Scum, or The Banner, this is a must buy.
Review score 4/5
