Stormshadow Reunion & Reissue Announced

Stormshadow was a metal-influenced punk band from New Brunswick, NJ, active from around 1995 to 2000. I saw them play among the bands Fanshen, Kamikaze, Worthless, The Scarlet Letter and more at what were some of my very first hardcore/punk shows in NB. I had the privilege of being over there as a Rutgers student during a great time in the hub city's DIY punk history. Mixing raw and clean vocals, Matty King and Sue Werner stand out in my memory as creating a chaotic and cathartic live performance that was at times politically charged as well.

An old patch from my collection:

Thanks to the RTF Records Forum I became aware of a great article over at Brooklyn Vegan which announces a Feb. 9 reissue release of Stormshadow's album Set On Destroy, as well as a reunion show alongside contemporaries whom they influenced, such as Black Wine & Screaming Females. This is all made possible by Don Giovanni Records.

Full article here:

Don Giovanni  was founded around 2004, I believe, by Joe Steinhardt and Zach Gajewski from Boston. I am not sure exactly how they became a premier NJ indie label for hardcore and punk, but their influence also extends to Brooklyn as well.

Tickets to the showcase on Feb 8 & 9 seem to still be available:
